An ointment or salve is a semi-solid preparation made to be applied to the skin. Depending on the purpose for which it is designed and its method of preparation, the texture can vary from very greasy to a thick paste. Learn how to make and use simple salves, ointments and balms, as well as more complex combinations.

A group within the date range can book classes or forays provided. Classes are offered for the set fee listed and can accommodate the number of individuals limited to each class. The fee remains consistent whether there is one participant or the entire number of participants allowed.
The salves and ointments your group will prepare will be made from vegetable oils (olive and almond) in conjunction with fresh herbs and beeswax. The first day we will gather a variety of wild medicinal plants, buds and bark. The following day we will prepare a wide variety (12 in all) of salves, ointments and balms for treating a range of problems such as cracked dry skin, athletes foot, infections and burns. Clients will return home with the items they made plus a detailed booklet of the plants and formulas used. A picnic lunch will also be provided both days.
This workshop is presented by herbalist and author Darcy Williamson.
