Tall Mountain Hollyhock 35+ Seeds

Wild hollyhock commonly grows on forested slopes, in meadows, along streambanks, and in disturbed areas It occurs on mesic sites in deep, moist, but well-drained soil. It has been found to 11,500 feet (3,490 m) elevation in Colorado and 9,570 feet (2900 m) elevation in Utah.

Wild Hollyhocks Iliamna rivularis requires heat from fire for seed germination. In many areas of the Intermountain West, Wild Hollyhocks are one of the first herbaceous species to appear after a fire.

Gorgeous pink two to three-inch flowers adorn loose spikes on stout three to six-foot tall stems. The five to eight-inch maple-like leaves are broad and lush. Wild Hollyhocks grow on stream banks, mountain slopes and in meadows at middle elevations in our mountains. They bloom in July and August. With a little shade and a bit of extra water during our hot summer months, the pink flowers of Wild Hollyhocks would make a great addition to any urban garden.
