Cottage in the Meadow
$89.00 Per Night
French doors swing open to the small deck over-looking the meadow. The meadow abounds with buttercups, blue camas, golden pea, larkspur, elephant head betony, fragrant lady's bedstraw, Explorer's gentian, wild geranium, monkey flowers, golden rod and other wetland fauna. During late September through October the turning leaves of aspen, hawthorn, mountain ash and willow provide a colorful tapestry along its edges. Deer, foxes, osprey and eagles are frequently sighted.
The cottage itself was moved to its location from Wagon Wheel Bay. It had once been used as a boathouse, and then later as a guest cabin. The present owners acquired the cottage and moved it to the meadow. It was renovated, keeping its 50's charm. The quaint one room cottage has a fully functional kitchen, large bathroom with tub/shower, and queen-size bed. A propane fireplace nestles on a tile hearth, adding a warm and cheerful ambiance during winter months or cool summer evenings.
There is no phone or television reception at the Cottage in the Meadow . However, there is a television with a VCR and a collection of videos for guests to enjoy. There is also a selection of games and puzzles. You may wish to bring a cell phone, but don't bring bottled water-- The Cottage in the Meadow has ample sweet tasting mountain water from its artesian well!
Summer visitors enjoy hiking at nearby Bear Basin, mountain biking at Brundage, swimming or boating at Payette Lake, fishing local streams and browsing McCall's unique shops. During the winter months The Cottage in The Meadow is an excellent retreat for cross-country skiers and snowmobile enthusiast since Bear Basin is at its back door. It is also centrally located for downhill skiing at Brundage Mountain and snow shoeing, skate skiing or Nordic skiing on the groomed trails of Ponderosa State Park. Four wheel drive or studded snow tires are recommended during the winter months.
The Cottage is the Meadow is a non-smoking rental. It is well suited to single or double occupancy. There is a two-night minimum. Pets are welcome, however there is a $10 cleaning fee.
Comments (Brenda ~ Boise, Idaho): The Cottage was a great place for the 2 of us and our dog, so much better to have a "place to come home to" rather than a room on a corridor in a hotel or motel. I had a chance to meet one of the property owners and learned the history of the Cottage, another special part of the experience.
Comments (Boise, Idaho): What a quaint and charming little cottage - not swanky by any means and so is perfect for those looking for a comfortable place with character and a true mountain feel!
Comments (Yvonne ~ North Bend, Washington): We really liked the cabin and being outside of town a little ways. It was well-stocked and felt like our very own little place. And our dog LOVED being able to run in the meadow right outside the door!! Can't wait to come back and play in the snow sometime.
Comments (John & Merrie ~ Draper, Utah): The cabin was very cosy and peacful. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have ever had because we didn't feel like we had to get out of a musty old hotel room. We will never stay in a hotel again if we can get a nice quiet cabin like this one.
Comments (Alyssa): As much as I don't want to, I have to say that the cottage is amazing. It fully exceeded my expectations. I'd love to keep it a secret, but I can't. We had an amazing time. The cottage was full stocked, plenty of towels, plates, bowls, utensils, movies, cds, games and even candles. We are already planning a trip back next year, if not sooner. Absolutely wonderful.
Comments (Angela ~ Ketchum, Idaho: We loved the privacy. It was great to not be in a hotel room right next to someone else! Our dogs were in heaven in the meadow!
Comments (Liesl ~ Seattle, Washington): The Cottage is really cute, and has an interesting selection of movies, games, music, and books. It's a nice place to stay when you're visiting McCall.
