Heuchera sp. Wild harvested in central Idaho. Alumroot is an excellent remedy for hemorrhage, diarrhea, nosebleeds, and presence of red blood cells in the urine, blood-stained sputum or profuse menstruation. Since the root contains a high concentration of tannins it acts as a powerful astringent, which is effective against diarrhea, cholera and dysentery.
Taken internally, Alumroot's potent astringency is an old and reliable treatment for internal piles and hemorrhoids. The herb’s root has a potent healing effect on the entire gastrointestinal tract and has been used as an excellent treatment against pus and mucus in the bladder and intestines as well as other mucous discharges. It is helpful in reducing inflammation of the mucous membranes and is helpful in the treatment of ulcers.
Also considered an effective antibacterial, Alumroot is helpful in fighting leucorrhea and the bacteria associated with tuberculosis.
Constituents: Includes tannin, phlebotannins, and assorted polyhydric phenols with galloyl glucosides.
Diarrhea – Take ¼ to ½ tsp. in ½ cup warm water. Sip slowly.
Hemorrhaging – For ulcers of the stomach and esophagus take ¼ tsp. of the tincture before every meal.
Stomach Aid – Take Alumroot tincture in small doses (¼ tsp.) to ease vomiting and diarrhea.
Throat Aid – Combine 1 tsp. Alumroot tincture with ½ tsp. Oregon Grape Root tincture and 1 tsp. sea or mineral salt in 1 cup warm water. Mix well. Gargle with the mixture.
