FOR EXPERIENCED BEEKEEPERS with Karla Bingham, Saturday, September 23rd, 3:00pm-4:30pm Mountain Standard Time

This is a class aimed at experienced beekeepers that have had hives for a year or more and are coming across more detailed challenges. Professional beekeeper Karla Bingham will cover the following topics: spring nucs (hows & whys), "redneck" nucs (Slide Ridge - style), queen cups & queen cells, supersedure, swarming & catching swarms, re-queening, various emergencies, brood diseases and what to do, and. . . beyond honey - what other medicinals exist in the hive. This class offers a great opportunity for local beekeepers to get together to talk about local issues, and to learn from an experienced commercial professional.

About the Instructor: Karla Bingham is a co-owner of Slide Ridge Honey, a successful family honey farm located in Mendon, Utah. Karla is visiting from the lovely Cache Valley to share her extensive knowledge of honey bee health. Slide Ridge beekeepers practice sustainable, low-impact, and all-natural beekeeping methods, working with the life cycle of the bees. They raise their own queens and use only all-natural plant-based nutrients and essential oils to keep their bees healthy and hives strong. At Slide Ridge, success is measured by the activity of the hives. Strong hives and active bees not only produce good honey but they add strength and beauty to the mountain flowers that sustain them.
